Silverlight 2.0 released!

SilverlightOn Friday June 6th, Microsoft released the second version of Silverlight 2.0 Beta. The installation file is 4.66MB (slightly bigger than before), and it is already available for download.

While we are excited with the various improvements that this version offers, unfortunately it is not backwards compatible.

As a result, and until we are done migrating to the new version, no additional invites will be sent out. Don’t worry, we should be up and running very quickly, and the benefits are well worth the wait.

Stay tuned for more info.

SemantiNet – On the Calcalist

On Sunday, May 18th 2008 an article about us was published in the Calcalist – A leading Israeli daily business newspaper.

The article describes SemantiNet as a fresh startup which intends to create the next generation of Web 2.0 and turn it accessible directly from the web browser. The current situation is described – There are many good content sites, such as Facebook, Amazon, Flickr and YouTube. Each one of them is content-rich, but they are all isolated; they are not integrated, and one has to use search engines to get from one to the other. SemantiNet develops the technology that dynamically connects and crosschecks the information from content sites.

Calcalist also presents the history of the company: From the initial idea phase, through the founding of the company, its growth and investors – Until today.

You can read the Hebrew article in PDF format by clicking here. Soon, we will translate the article to English as well.

An interview with Robert Scoble

Mr. Scobleizer himself was kind enough to publish a short (6min) video interview on our product. The video was taken during the Com.Vention 2008 Internet convention, which took place in Israel last month. Scoble titled our product “A New Kind of Social Networking Search/Discovery Tool”. I couldn’t agree more – our product does offer a unique approach that radically simplifies the search and discovery process of social content.

More importantly, however, for the past two years we developed a unique semantic framework that allows us to integrate dispersed online data.In the interview, Robert refers to our product as: “the best glue he’s ever seen” - indeed it is our framework that makes it possible for us to seamlessly glue together rich content in such an effective way.

In future posts I plan to write more about this capability as well as to share which services have been “glued” already. Until then, I hope that you will enjoy Scoble’s video.

Finally Alpha!

It took more than two years, but on April 1st (no joke), we finally started our Alpha testing.

We are kick starting the process with friends & family, but we are planning to scale up the testing with more users as soon as possible.

While some features are still incomplete, and solutions to various problem are still under development, we seek your help.

If you are a social beast and you use firefox regularly, please let us know and we would love to have you onboard as a tester. Help us uncover bugs and let us know which features you crave.

Please know that our product requires you to have Silverlight 2.0 Beta installed, and at this point we only support Windows. We feel that currently our product offers most value to friendfeed users.
